About Us

A distinguishing feature of Attic Dwellings lies in our environmental consciousness. As a substitute to conventional construction methods that often involve substantial site disturbance, we strive to minimize the environmental impact on construction. By embracing pre-fabrication, we significantly reduce ecological disturbance, on-site waste, and overall carbon footprint. This strategy aligns with our belief that beautiful spaces can be created sustainably, both culturally and environmentally.

Our dedicated team of passionate and highly-skilled designers and carpenters stands as a testament to our commitment to the craft of making. Their expertise plays a pivotal role in the successful completion of every project. By adhering to the highest standards of craftsmanship, we ensure that each space we create not only meets design excellence but also contributes positively to the surrounding environment.

Attic Dwellings offers a comprehensive, all-in-one service that goes beyond conventional design and construction practices. Our integrated approach streamlines the process, providing clients with a seamless experience from initial concept to completion. This not only saves time and resources but also enhances the overall sustainability of the project.

Why Pre-Fabrication

As designers and builders, we integrate innovative design thinking into our construction methods. This fusion has led us to embrace pre-fabrication construction techniques for the following reasons:

  • Fabricating modular building components off-site in a climate controlled environment enhances efficiency and facilitates productive work during the off-season. This in turn accelerates project delivery and offer cost savings by minimizing on-site construction time and travel expenses.

  • Operating within a specialized workshop environment enables us to achieve a superior level of precision and building quality, often unattainable on a construction site. In addition, protection from adverse weather ensures structural members and wall assemblies remain dry and protected during all phase of the construction process. This results in the creation of a healthier building overall.

  • Our team produces two drawing sets for each project; an architectural set used for permitting and consultant collaboration, and fabrication set that meticulously represents every structural element and connection details as it will be constructed. This approach is essential for tackling complex details and construction hurdles.

Panel Fabrication

Intentionally situated in Burnside, the industrial heart of Nova Scotia, our fabrication shop strategically resides in close proximity to the suppliers, manufacturers, and resources required to build. Equipped to handle sheathing, insulation, wind barrier, and strapping assemblies, our shop ensures efficient fabrication processes. In addition, assembled panels can be safely stored within our facility until they are ready to be shipped to site. Panelization offers shipping efficiencies, as panels less than 10 feet can be effortlessly maneuvered and stacked onto standard flat-bed trucks. This lowers delivery expenses and broadens the geographical scope of our team can service.

On-Site Assembly

Through meticulously planned structural connections and seamless coordination with our sub-trades, on-site assembly proceeds swiftly and efficiently. Employing cranes, winches, and mechanical arms significantly diminishes the labour needed for unloading and placing panelized assemblies. Once the panels are properly places , the building can quickly achieve the water-tight milestone.
